Bright and modern, Sonya seeks to bring joy and beauty to your home. Sonya is committed to environmentally conscious manufacturing. The textiles are printed, cut, and sewn in Connecticut.
Sonya was founded by Christina van Hengel and Hilary Van Wright in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. The collection’s first line was drawn in pastel by Hilary. Inspiration for the collection came from a kaftan owned by Christina’s grandmother, Sonya.
Hilary Van Wright is a visual artist and art director. She is currently a Senior Design Editor at National Geographic and a Faculty Artist at Community Access to the Arts. She was formerly Freelance Design Director at goop, Art Director at Vanity Fair, Art Director of New York Magazine's award winning Strategist section, and Art Director at domino magazine.
Christina van Hengel is a co-founder and Director at 100 Main, a locally made retail concept in Falls Village, CT. She is an experienced marketing professional, formerly at Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, the womenswear collection Maiyet, the real estate agency Brown Harris Stevens, and the private wealth manager Highmount Capital.
