CONTEMPORARY TEXTILES

Bright and modern, Sonya seeks to bring joy and beauty to your home. Sonya is committed to environmentally conscious manufacturing. The textiles are printed, cut, and sewn in Connecticut.

Sonya was founded by Christina van Hengel and Hilary Van Wright in the Berkshires of Massachusetts. The collection’s first line was drawn in pastel by Hilary. Inspiration for the collection came from a kaftan owned by Christina’s grandmother, Sonya.

Hilary Van Wright is a visual artist and graphic designer drawn to color and botanicals. Her most recent roles were Senior Design Editor at National Geographic and a Faculty Artist at Community Access to the Arts. Prior to that, her designs graced the magazine pages of Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, goop, domino, and more.

Christina van Hengel is a co-founder and was the Director at 100 Main, a locally made retail concept in Falls Village, CT. She is an experienced marketing professional, formerly at Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, the womenswear collection Maiyet, the real estate agency Brown Harris Stevens, and the private wealth manager Highmount Capital.
